I'll start it off by asking a question/riddle, and the person who answers it right gets 1 karma and makes the next question.
Question: What is the last song on the album that my avatar refers to?

i would have put it in the Other section if it was ssbm related. your questions can relate to ssbm if you want them to, but they don't have to.
phazon: very wrong...

Harder one this time:
Which of the following siteswap notations can be juggled:
432 442 531 54 631
Two karma if you can tell me why.

Post by eat moar asparagus on Jun 6, 2007 23:25:35 GMT -5
uhhh... WHAT? *doesn't understand the question at all* is that like high school level math or something? I'll guess 531 and 631.

Post by 1221 on Jun 6, 2007 23:31:54 GMT -5
There's very little math involved, and you can't guess 2 answers.

|
|
Post by eat moar asparagus on Jun 6, 2007 23:59:18 GMT -5
Oh I get it now. It's about juggling. I know the answers. =D
432 and 531. This is because the number of balls used in the pattern is the average of the three digits used in the pattern. So that means that all patterns must have a siteswap sequence that averages to a whole number. Am I right?
Even if I'm not right, thank you 1221 for introducing me to the basics of vanilla siteswap. I'm beginning to understand it now. ;D
And yet, I don't understand it at all, and I will stop researching about it.

You started to get it lalala. You missed one part though. Only one pattern out of those is jugglable. If you can figure that out and tell me the second rule, you'll get 2 karma.

Only 531 is jugglable, because no two objects may land at the same time.
I think that a 4 means you catch it with the same hand that you throw it, at a height of the four fountain. Three means you throw it to the other hand at a height of the three cascade. Two means you hold it momentarily. So somehow, some objects will land at the same time. (I think. I am getting really confused.)

Everything you said was right. We won't get into simultaneous throws and multiplexing =).
2 karma for you, and your turn for a question. I hope other people will get in on this.

XD @ SoS at siimply quoting the first paragraph of the wikipedia article on Phazon <___<
"Phazon is a fictional element[1] from the Metroid Prime video game series. It appeared in the first two Metroid Prime installments, and is planned to reappear in the upcoming Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.[2] Phazon, depicted as a corrupting and harmful element, plays an important role in Metroid Prime's storyline."
